Worth Bearing in Mind

Prehistory is an ever-evolving area of study;  by definition, ‘prehistory’ lacks any written primary sources (‘pre’ ‘history’ ie. ‘Before’ ‘historical writing’) and therefore a single archaeological discovery can overturn or revolutise our view of our ancient past.

The most reliable resources are the facts discovered from archaeology, the latest writings on discoveries, and the latest active archaeological debates.

There are many excellent books out there which are 20 or 30 years old now, or even older, but it is always a good idea to bear in mind that the study of prehistory may have moved on since they were written.
